We Find What Others Miss
MCR offers the most current code editing technology available.
If you ask any health claims management organization today if it scrubs its claims before they are paid, it will most likely say “Yes.” Scrubbing is a term that describes the process of electronically “reviewing” all of the information listed on a claim to be sure that it is accurate and without errors, before it is processed for payment.
If a claim contains errors when it is sent to be paid, it can be denied and returned unpaid, or it can be revised and resubmitted. The goal is to reduce the number of errors so that claims can be paid appropriately and quickly.
There are a number of reasons why errors may occur on a claim. It can be due to human error, where the wrong information is accidentally entered into the wrong place, or it may be due to the use of an incorrect medical code used to describe a procedure. Whatever the reason, the MCR Scrubber was created to find what others miss, due to the superior design of its engine, which lies at the heart of this proprietary software solution.
The MCR Engine contains nearly 1.5 million edits. It is very flexible, meaning a single line edit can be turned off, or even an entire edit, if need be. For example, the medical necessity edit of the MCR engine, which focuses on the CPT code’s relationship with the diagnosis code, can incorporate some or all of the widely accepted standards of care, both national and local coverage determinations, and payer specific determinations.
